Dynamic Phase Transition in Kinetic Ising Models Driven by an Osillating Field:
New Experiments and Results on the Conjugate Field and
a Nonequilibrium Fluctuation-Dissipation Relation
Kinetic Ising models driven by a temporally oscillating applied field undergo a nonequilibrium phase transition in the Ising universality class at a critical value of the ratio of the period of the applied field to the intrinsic time scale for magnetization switching in the Ising system. Following a short introduction to the phenomenon I discuss a recent experimental observation in [Co/Pt]_3 multilayers, as well as kinetic Monte Carlo simulations that establish the field conjugate to the dynamic order parameter and demonstrate the existence of a nonequilibrium fluctuation-Dissipation relation in the critical region.
